    Frequently Asked Questions

Who is this conference for? Can I bring my spouse / colleague / friend / other guest?

Yes, this conference is for anyone who is aligned with our mission and wants to get involved.

The conference is for anyone and everyone interested in finding ways to ensure that basic values like equality, justice, and human dignity are upheld - activists, lawyers, policy experts, motivated volunteers, and others are all welcome. Our mission is to provide conference attendees with the framework, inspiration, direction, information, and connections required to fight together for our nation’s prosperity and security while protecting civil rights and holding the government accountable to its people.

Does the conference conflict with the Women’s March on Washington?

No, most conference attendees are also participating in the Women's March on Washington.

No. In fact, Lawyers for Good Government (one of the conference organizers) is working with the organizers of the March to provide assistance and support, and is coordinating to ensure that any overlap between the March and the conference is limited. Most of the people planning to attend the “Rise Above” conference are also planning to attend the Women’s March.

Both Lawyers for Good Government and RISE When We Fall are official partners of the Women's March on Washington.

What if I can only attend on Saturday? Or on Sunday? What if I just want to attend one part of the conference?

No problem, you can register for individual days or the whole program.

While it is possible to register for and attend all of the planned events with a two-day ticket, it is ALSO possible to purchase tickets to just one day (either Saturday or Sunday), or to just the Activism Workshop on Saturday afternoon by itself.

What if I’d like to come, but I can’t afford the tickets?

We have a few options for you.

    (1) We're offering an Activism Workshop on Saturday afternoon with tickets starting as low as $20. See registration page for more details (www.riseaboveconference.org/registration)

    (2) We’re offering reduced rates for government & NGO employees, students, and retirees. See registration page for more details (www.riseaboveconference.org/registration)

    (3) You can purchase tickets for individual events if the full conference pricing is an obstacle.

    (4) Finally, we’re working to build a “scholarship program” funded by sponsorships and donations, so potential attendees who would otherwise not be able to attend will have the opportunity to do so. More details to be released as they become available.

    Where can I stay?

We've compiled a list of hotels and alternate options for your convenience.

For those who haven’t already made arrangements to be in the DC area the weekend of the conference, check out our Logistics page for Washington-area hotels that are reasonably convenient to the Lincoln Theatre and the Mayflower Hotel.

Will there be a webcast / live streaming option?

    Maybe (we hope so).

We’re looking into this possibility and will share new information on this subject as it becomes available.
