Tracy Norton, Associate Law Professor, Touro Law Center, to speak at RISE Above Conference on Sunday, January 22, 2017.
Prof. Tracy Norton has taught legal analysis and persuasion for 20 years, developing an expertise in legal storytelling as a powerful advocacy tool. She advocated for media access and fundamental human rights in the Houston Astrodome shelter following the Hurricane Katrina levee breaches. Prof. Norton continues to speak and write about using storytelling as the foundation of legal arguments in post-disaster criminal cases. In the days following the 2016 Presidential Election, she was enlisted by critical race scholar Kathleen Bergin to found Resistance Writers. Resistance Writers is organizing legal writers, journalists, and storytellers to resist far-right nationalist policies through simple, clear messages that cross party lines.
