Maja Hazell, Global Director of Diversity and Inclusion, Leadership and Career Coach, to speak at RISE Above Conference on Sunday, January 22, 2017.
Maja Hazell is currently the global Director of Diversity and Inclusion at an AmLaw 20 international firm with almost 2,000 lawyers in 26 countries in the Americas, EMEA and Asia. She is also an executive coach on leadership and career strategies.
Maja has led diversity and inclusion and career development initiatives for over twelve years following seven years in private practice. She has worked for three of Americas top-grossing Am Law 100 law firms: White & Case LLP and Fried Frank LLP, as their Director of Diversity and Inclusion, and Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP, as an associate. She also served as Pace University School of Law Assistant Dean for Career Development, overseeing all law student and alumni career guidance programs.
Maja is a member and past President of the Association of Law Firm Diversity Professionals, and a member of several legal and corporate professional organizations: the Association of the Bar of the City of New York; NALP, The Association for Legal Career Professionals; the Professional Development Consortium, and Society for Human Resources. She is a frequent speaker on organizational inclusion and talent management issues for these organizations and at several national law schools. Maja currently serves as a member of the Hunter College Pre-Law Advisory Board, the Leadership Institute Board of Advisors of the Council of Urban Professionals, and the New York City Bar Association (NYCBA) Committee to Enhance Diversity in the Profession. She has previously served on the NYCBA Committee on Recruitment and Retention of Lawyers, assisting in its administration of their long-standing Diversity Fellowship Program. Maja is also a certified graduate of Accomplishment Coaching, an International Coaching Federation-accredited training program for leadership coaching.
She received her BA from Yale University and JD from Georgetown University Law Center.
